Indonesian picks up silver medal

3rd December, Manila: 2017 SEA Games Masters silver medallist, Tannya Roumimper picked up Indonesia's first medal at the 2019 Philippines 30th SEA Games Bowling Championships after finishing second in the Women's Singles event on Tuesday.

2019 Asian Championships Trios gold medallist, Sin Li Jane of Malaysia got off to a superb start with 237 in her opening game to lead Filipina, Liza Del Rosario in second by two pins and Lara Posadas-Wong in third, a further seven pins away.

Her lead only lasted one game as the Malaysian was over taken by Ng after the Singaporean fired a stunning 266 in the second game. Ng's compatriot, New added a splendid game of 258 to her 201 opener to take up second.

Sin stumbled to a lowly 179 to slip down behind Indonesia's Tannya Roumimper, who moved up to third and a third Singaporean, Daphne Tan ahead of the Malaysian by 22 pins. New posted another superb game of 235 in the third to remain in the lead.

Roumimper went ahead of Ng with 233 as Ng managed only 189 to drop down to third. Tan also remained in fourth as a second Malaysian, Siti Safiyah Amirah took up fifth. Roumimper took over the running after te fourth game briefly only to hand the lead back to New atfer the fifth game.

New ended strongly with 230 to seal Singapore's first gold medal with 1372. Roumimper also ended well with 223 to claim the silver medal with 1307. Ng struck in the tenth and eleventh frame to clinch the bronze medal with 1271.

Sin bounced back in the fifth game but could only end with 202 in the final game to miss out on the podium by 21 pins with 1250. Tan rounded out the top five with 1247.

Mr Steve Hontiveros, President of the Philippines National Olympic Committee, Mr Ahmad Faedzal Bin Mohd Ramli, Malaysia's Deputy Chef-de-Mission and Mr Tan Zu Qiang, Honorary Treasuere of Singapore Bowling Federation presented the medals to the winners.

The men will contest their Singles at Coronado Lanes after lane maintenance. Competition will resume with the Doubles event tomorrow morning starting with the men followed by the women in the afternoon.
